Earthquake Safety Program TBT Internal Retrofit

SCOPE
The TBT Retrofit and associated work, in general, includes furnishing all labor, equipment, tools, materials, management, coordination, professional services and other services required to fabricate and install between 6,118 tons and 9,269 tons of approximately ¾” thick steel plate in the galleries and bores of the TBT. Adjacent plates will be field-welded to each other on all edges; the gap between the new plates and existing walls will be grouted. Between 14,800 and 19,200 large diameter headed dowels will be drilled through the trackway invert and bonded into the bottom of the TBT. Between 2,300 and 2,900 cu. yds. of reinforced concrete will be placed in the trackway invert. Between 4,000 and 6,400 precast concrete tie bocks, without rubber boots, will be placed in the trackway invert. Between 133,000 and 173,000 sq. ft. of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) membrane will be placed in the trackway invert, beneath the new concrete slab. Between 55,000 and 78,000 anchors and through-bolts will be used to fasten the steel plates in place. The work includes cleaning, rebar scanning, laser surveying, concrete demolition, concrete sawing and coring, lead paint abatement, painting, piping and pump stations, electrical substations and medium voltage transmission lines, monitoring and control systems, trucking, welding, specialized plate handling machinery, and minor amounts of site utilities. The work includes the replacement of five temporary plugs in the outer wall of the TBT with District-furnished permanent plugs. he aggregate lineal feet of work zone in each bore is between 7,800 ft. and 10,100 ft; the aggregate feet of work in the galleries is between 2,200 ft. and 4,600 ft. Each bore, and each gallery, will have between three and four separate work zones. The work includes electrically powered construction equipment, supplied by a Contractor-furnished generator at grade at the east end of the TBT. Licenses that Subcontractors may be required to carry as part of a team include C4, C7, C8, C10, C31, C33, C36, C50, C51, C60, D21,D38, D51, HAZ. The work is in the City and County of San Francisco and in Alameda County.
