Ebbetts Pass Water System, Reach 3A Pipeline Replacement
BID DATE
11/19/15 - 2:00
AGENCY
Calaveras County WD
ESTIMATE
$5,000,000
SCOPE
Located in Arnold and White Pines in Calaveras County, the project consists of construction of 19,300 feet of 12-inch water main and sixteen (16) pressure reducing stations. The project replaces an existing pipeline generally following the same alignment, which starts near Cal-Fire Station at Lakemont Dr., follows east side of Hwy 4, crossing Hwy 4 by bore & jack in front of the Meadowmont shopping center, continues along west shoulder of Hwy 4 crossing Meadowmont Dr., transitions to and follows east edge of golf course to Pine Dr., via utility easements crosses to Oak Circle and Cedar Center to Sequoia St., continues on Fir St. to Dunbar Rd to intersection of Hwy 4 at Blagen Rd, then follows Blagen Rd to White Pines, traverses uphill above White Pines along a utility pole easement to a water storage tank. The existing 10 and 12-inch steel pipeline, installed in 1965, operates at 250-psi pressure and is in poor condition having recent failures; safety measures and caution must be taken when excavating or working in close proximity to the existing pipeline while in service. Phasing and sequencing of work is required/critical to perform shutdowns to complete new construction while minimize service interruptions to customers. Individual sections of the pipeline will be sequentially isolated, removed from service, replaced, and then the new line tested, disinfected and returned to service before advancing to next section.
