SCOPE
The proposed improvement project involves the purchase of adjacent vacant land to construct a second stormwater pond to provide enough storage capacity with the ultimate goal to keep water out of the homes in this subdivision. The pond must have a pump station which is capable of lowering the proposed pond before a storm and run continuously during and after a storm until the roads are cleared. The pump station must have a generator set at an elevation higher than the proposed flood stage so it can continue to work even though the surrounding ground may be flooded. The generator must have the capability to run the pump station for at least twelve (12) hours before needing to be refueled. The pond must have a gravity discharge (outfall) and a force main (for the pump) connected to Reed Canal. In addition, stormwater from the adjacent Harborside subdivision is known to overflow into Lantern Park exacerbating the flooding and the resident’s desire a concrete wall to be constructed to prevent the water from the neighboring subdivision from overflowing. https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/volusia/projects/285809
