NO AWARD. Proposed facility improvements include remodeling the existing booking and intake facility to improve operational efficiency and safety, and the addition of new holding cells. The modifications will include demolition and removal of portions of the existing improvements. An existing locker room space and showers will be remodeled to expand the holding facility and add new cells. Two six-person cells, two single-person cells and one padded cell will be added. The existing electrical switchgear located on the first floor is Federal Pacific equipment and will be removed and replaced as part of this project. Electrical panels located in the basement, first, and second floors are also manufactured by Federal Pacific and will have their internal components replaced. Improvements to the HVAC system are proposed to improve air quality in the Holding Facility. Additional outside intake air will be ducted from the building roof through existing mechanical rooms and will tie into the existing HVAC system. In addition to the Holding Facility, the building includes the court, records, IT infrastructure and other operations that will need to be maintained during construction. Police Department officers and other staff operate out of the facility 24-hours per day and every day of the year. Construction activities will need to be extensively coordinated with the Police Department. Construction sequencing, phasing, staging, and scheduling will need to be developed that will minimize interruptions to the facility operations and staff. Electrical work will require system shutdowns that will need to be limited in duration and carefully scheduled. Certain building systems will require temporary power during shutdowns.
