SCOPE
The 2015-16 pavement preservation project consists of preserving 192,215 square yards of roadway utilizing a pre-coated rubberized chip seal combined with a final fog seal. The project will preserve (6) residential subdivisions and (6) streets as detailed below. The contract will be completed in 75 calendar days. It will be permissible to suspend a portion of the contact until the spring, if winter temperatures prevent fall completion, as long as both fall and spring portions do not exceed total contract time. Work suspension will not be allowed for partially completed subdivisions. All streets, except a 1,300LF portion of Sandra road, will be preserved with a pre-coated (1/2”) rubberized chip using the binder AC15-5TR. Upon completion of the chip and final sweeping, a fog coat of either PMM or TRMSS (see map for details) shall be applied. The work on Sandra road is divided into two distinct areas. The southern portion shall have the rubberized chip application. The northern section, currently a dirt road, consists of fine grading the existing un-paved roadway and preparing it for chip. A double shot application of conventional chip, with standard emulsion (PCDOT specifications section 404-3.16), will be utilized to complete this roadway. A final seal of TRMSS shall be applied to the finished product on both northern and southern portions. Extra care shall be taken in this area to ensure that native vegetation is not destroyed or contaminated by the application process. All streets will be thoroughly cleaned both before and after the application of the chip seal. A pick up broom will be required for this project. Disposal of loose chips will be the responsibility of the contractor. No water source will be provided.
