SCOPE
The Thunderbird Conservation Park is 1,185 acres, located in the Hedgpeth Hills in north Glendale, Arizona. The park is dedicated to preserving the desert environment and offers activities that include picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, jogging, and bird watching. The park includes approximately 15-miles of multiuse trails, parking lots, ramadas, and restrooms. There are three trailheads/entrances to the park. The main trailhead/entrance is off of 59th Avenue (22600 North 59th Avenue), another on Pinnacle Peak Road at 55th Avenue (5486 W. Pinnacle Peak Road), and the third off of 67th Avenue at Patrick Lane. The trails and access roads branch from these trailheads into the park. The City's Parks and Recreation Master Plan was updated in 2021. The goals and objectives for this project were identified in the 2021 master plan and include improvements to the park trailheads and infrastructure, revegetate native desert areas, replace existing facilities (e.g., restrooms, shade structures, trailheads, etc.), install or reconstruct new asphalt parking lots, connect to existing water and sewer systems at the two main entrances, and the installation of new signage EngineeringDept@glendaleaz.com
