SCOPE
National Forest Service Road (NFSR) 104 (“Mingus Mountain Road”) was paved in 2021. During heavy spring runoff events in 2022 and 2023, road edging and ditches were compromised. Culverts were damaged and plugged. The project adds culverts, reconditions and repairs ditches, replaces paved road edges, and installs erosion protection measures along the 1.5-mile steep stretch of road. NFSR 374 (“Granite Basin Road”) and the Granite Basin Recreation Area is one of the most popular forest recreation areas. It leads to Granite Basin Lake, at the base of Granite Mountain. Specifically, Playa Day Use requires slurry seal and restriping, as well as other related work such as curb repair, erosion control, and parking lot repairs. Wekuvde Picnic Site requires full-depth asphalt reclamation, new aggregate base, repaving, and restriping. The work continues in the same area, with the main road requiring full-depth asphalt reclamation, reshaping, aggregate base placement, repaving, and restriping. Lastly, a new fee lane will be constructed near the Cayuse Equestrian recreation site. Option work includes the repairs of two (2) concrete drainage crossings. Both projects will require temporary traffic control, with requirements noted on the construction drawings.
