AGENCY
Orange County
ESTIMATE
$6,430,000
SCOPE
Within the project reach, the existing channel consists of a mildly sloped concrete, earthen and rip-rap lined trapezoidal channel section. The channel varies from 15 to 19 feet deep and has an approximate bottom width of 24 feet. The channel is crossed by California Street and New Hampshire Drive. The total length of the project reach is approximately 3,400 feet. Construction of the improvements involves replacing existing concrete channel lining that has failed, increasing the channel flow capacity by steepening the channel embankments, lining portions of the channel with concrete to eliminate erosion, and replacing a concrete box culvert at New Hampshire Drive with a larger structure for additional flow capacity. To allow for on-site runoff infiltration, the majority of the channel bottom will remain earthen. These improvements will greatly reduce or eliminate the channel bank erosion issues which are of concern.
