BID DATE

AGENCY
Bakersfield
ESTIMATE
$13,600,000
SCOPE
The project consists of a 6-mile-long multiuse path from the Kern River Channel to 7th Standard Road. The trail would run in a north-south orientation. The trail would be 12-feet-wide and constructed of asphalt with 4-foot-wide dirt shoulders. A chain-linked fence would be installed on both sides of the trail where existing fencing does not exist. There will be three multi use path crossings within the Friant Kern Canal right of way. The work consists of, but is not necessarily limited to, the construction of a new 135-foot pedestrian bridge crossing over the outfall of the Friant-Kern Canal and within the Kern River floodplain, the construction of a golf cart path undercrossing adjacent to the Riverlakes Golf Course, and the construction of a 75 foot pedestrian bridge crossing adjacent to Madison Grove Park. A prefabricated pedestrian overcrossing steel structured bridge would be constructed at the existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad right of way. The trail would be used for alternative transportation and recreation; as well as serve as an interconnection to community parks, school, shopping centers, and the Kern River Parkway. The trail would increase pedestrian and bicyclist safety, promote active modes of transportation, and reduce traffic congestion. https://pbsystem.planetbids.com/portal/14660/bo/bo-detail/116379# rsandoval@bakersfieldcity.us "
