Pima Canal BW IB Gila River Siphon

SCOPE
3/27/15 award. The Pima Canal BW-IB, Gila River Siphon includes construction of approximately 815 feet of upstream concrete lined canal and approximately 1,812 feet of 120-inch siphon pipe and will be completed as generally described below. The scope of work for the siphon and canal includes, but is not limited to, protection of the existing historic Sacaton Dam, Olberg Road Bridge on the dam, Santan Canal Bridge, Pima Canal Bridge, and existing siphon inlet and outlet facilities. These are historic facilities listed on the National Register of Historic Places and no impact of any kind is allowed to these structures, including no contractor or contactor-employed staff member vehicles of any type (including personal vehicles) are allowed on or over the bridge. The scope also includes coordination with utilities; maintaining irrigation deliveries; irrigation water supply during construction; diversion and care of streams; soil erosion and sediment control; cacti relocation and site clearing; removal of existing canal structures; removal and salvage of a canal gate; removal, cleaning, and stockpiling of riprap of varying sizes; canal excavation and embankment; canal over-excavation; borrow; trench excavation and backfill; riprap of varying sizes with geotextile fabric or aggregate base; reinforced concrete structures; canal trimming; hand placed concrete lining with fibermesh; 120- inch siphon pipe, and other mechanical work. The earthwork includes, but is not limited to, survey, site clearing, canal excavation and embankment, canal over-excavation, canal borrow, trimming the canal prism and on-site material management and disposal. Borrowed materials will be used to construct the compacted embankments. Also included in this scope are reinforced concrete structures. The new structures include, but are not limited to, a spillway structure, a siphon inlet structure, a siphon outlet structure, and other structures. Equipment work includes, but is not limited to a fabricated stainless steel slide gate. Mechanical work includes, but is not limited to, pipe trench, installation of 120-inch reinforced concrete cylinder pipe (RCCP, AWWA C300) or 120-inch reinforced concrete low head pressure pipe (RCLHPP ASTM C-361), 60-inch RCLHPP ASTM C-361, and stilling wells. Siphon pipe corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems are required. Also included are traffic control, asphalt paving, chain link fence and gates, barbed wire fence and gates, trash rack, pipe bollards, handrails, cultural icon, safety signs, coated steel bulkheads, electrical system, electrical service, temporary by-pass channel, and other appurtenances.
