SCOPE
The work in this contract is for the Champions South Water Line Replacement for Champions Municipal Utility District (Champions MUD) located in Harris County, Texas. The purpose of this project is to replace aging water lines in the Champions South neighborhood and across the Champions Golf Club, including gate valves and fire hydrants, to prevent future water main breaks in the area. In general, this work consists of: Installation of 8-inch AWWA C-900 water line, by trenchless construction, for all depths, including restrained joints, bends, fittings, open right gate valves with boxes, and Mueller, or approved equal, fire hydrant assemblies. Disinfection and hydrostatic testing shall be completed by the Contractor. Installation of minimum 14-inch steel casing, by trenchless construction, including fittings. Contractor shall make sure proposed water line with restrained joints and spacers has the needed clearance for installation inside the proposed steel casing. Connection of the new water lines to the existing water system by tapping sleeve and valves and wet connections. Contractor shall install valve extensions for valves deeper than 8 feet. Line stop valves are to be used as directed by Engineer to minimize water service disruption in the event certain line segments prove difficult to isolate due to existing valve placement or existing valves being faulty. Installation and connection of new long-side and short-side service leads, all diameters, from new water line to existing residential water meters using tapping saddle with stainless steel band, including Accurate Meter or Core and Main corporation valves and ball valve curb stops, or approved equal, with u-branches or standard compression fittings at the meter connection. Service lines for ¾-inch water meters shall be a single 1-inch service line with a 1-inch by ¾-inch u-branch for two meters or standard compression fitting for one meter. Service lines for water meters 1-inch and larger shall be a single line that matches meter size for each meter. No 90-degree curb stops will be allowed. It will be the Contractor’s responsibility to ensure that all residential meters are reconnected to the new water line. Installation and connection of new service leads, to match existing service lead diameter, from the new water line to the existing irrigation water meters using tapping saddle with stainless steel band or sleeve including Accurate Meter or Core and Main corporation valves and ball valve curb stops, or approved equal. No 90-degree curb stops will be allowed. It will be the Contractor’s responsibility to ensure that all commercial and irrigation meters are reconnected to the new water line. Abandonment of existing water lines, all sizes, all depths, including cutting, draining, plugging, and grouting the existing water line as shown in the plans. Existing water lines located under pavement called to be abandoned shall also be grouted. Removing existing fire hydrant assemblies and plugging the old fire hydrant connection on the existing line. Existing fire hydrants that are removed are to be salvaged and returned to Champions MUD. Power poles near or in areas of conflict shall be braced as directed by Engineer. Site restoration of disturbed areas adjacent to Champions Golf Club Property and in Harris County Right of Way includes replacing damaged sidewalks, ramps, driveways, pavement, turf, plants, shrubs, trees, irrigation lines, fences, and gates. Site restoration of areas adjacent to Champions Golf Club property shall be coordinated with the Champions Gold Club. All golf course crossing will require coordination with Champions Golf Club. Implementation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control plan, trench safety, and storm water pollution prevention plan best practices including inlet protection barriers. https://www.civcastusa.com/project/645e4c3d1c8a19c2f4f1f357/summary jtpham@lan-inc.com
