JOB
(CMAR) Rattlesnake Booster Pumps and Rancho Santa Fe Parkway Transmission Main
BID DATE
12/15/14 - 10:00
AGENCY
Kingman
ESTIMATE
$2,600,000
SCOPE
AWARD 10/30/14: The City of Kingman is expanding and improving its water system in the east Kingman area by installing new components at the Rattlesnake Tank site and constructing a water transmission main to the Rancho Santa Fe Tank. These improvements consist of installing booster pumps and related appurtenances to pump water from Rattlesnake Tank to the Rancho Santa Fe Tank and constructing a 16-inch diameter transmission pipe made of ductile iron. These components are shown in a vicinity map as Figure 1. Rattlesnake Tank currently consists of a 1.5 million gallon tank, an existing booster station for a different water zone and ancillary improvements. The existing booster station has 2 empty pump cans for expansion with existing feed piping that connects to the tank. This project will utilize the 2 empty pump cans to add 2 new booster pumps to the station, one for primary pumping to the Rancho Santa Fe Tank and the other for backup. The booster pumps will be run by 250 HP motors. At the City’s option, a surge tank may be added to the booster station if the overall budget for the project allows for the addition. A transmission main will be constructed to connect to the new booster pumps and the Rancho Santa Fe Tank. This main will be approximately 1.75 miles long and the diameter is expected to be 16 inches. The transmission main will be constructed of ductile iron pipe meeting AWWA C-151 requirements. The main will be located in the future Rancho Santa Fe Parkway roadway alignment. This road is being designed by ADOT and they have completed 95% plans. The roadway project is on hold until funding becomes available. The design and construction for the transmission line will need to account for the proposed ADOT improvements. This will require deep excavation to ensure the transmission main will be below the future interchange. There currently are not any paved roads in the vicinity of this project and clearing and grubbing for the waterline alignment is anticipated. The transmission main will cross several washes and construction will need to be in conformance with AZPDES requirements. Additionally the transmission main will cross Interstate 40 which will require ADOT review and approval prior to construction Sydney Muhle, City Clerk 310 N. 4th Street (mailing) Kingman, Arizona 86401 Phil Allred, pallred@cityofkingman.gov or (2) Greg Henry, ghenry@cityofkingman.gov
