SCOPE
The proposed Freeway Widening project is located in Maricopa County within the cities of Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on SR 101L, starting approximately 2,200 north of Shea Boulevard (MP 40.62) and extends south to the juncture of SR 101L and SR 202L (Red Mountain Freeway) (MP 51.40). The approximate length of project is 11 miles. The proposed work consists of construction of one general purpose lanes in both North and South bound directions on the outside of the existing freeway pavement. The works also include construction of auxiliary lanes and widening of existing bridges at 11 locations (Camelback Walk, Via Linda, 90th Street, Via De Ventura, Indian Bend Road, Arizona Canal Bridge, McDonald Drive, Chaparral Road, Indian School Road, McDowell Road and McKellips Road). The work includes: roadway excavation and embankment construction, grading, furnishing and placing aggregate base, asphaltic concrete base, Portland Cement Concrete Pavement and asphaltic rubber-asphaltic concrete friction course, constructing retaining walls, sound walls, landscape walls, drainage facilities, furnishing and installing pavement marking, signing, lighting, freeway management system components including vehicle detection, ramp metering, CCTV, DMS, and the communications system, and other related work.
