JOB
Pine Flat Landslide Debris Rock Fall Barrier Construction
BID DATE
10/10/19 - 5:00
AGENCY
Department Army
ESTIMATE
$5,000,000
SCOPE
The landslide is located near the northerly abutment of Pine Flat Dam and covers an area approximately 200 to 220 feet wide by 380 feet long (downslope). The work includes the installation of two rock barriers downstream of Pine Flat Dam to mitigate potential rockfall damage to facilities from the active landslide, as well as incidental related work. The rockfall barriers will be installed adjacent to existing access roads to prevent rockfall from obstructing access to the dam and associated facilities. The rockfall barriers (Figure 2) consist of welded wire mesh supported by vertical poles anchored into the existing ground through the foundation and through intermediate support anchors. The barriers range in height from 10 to 15 feet. Minor improvements to the existing access roads are anticipated to facilitate installation of the rock barriers. Additional instrumentation will be added to the site along with making use of existing instrumentation and instrumentation casing. The proposed project does not mitigate the active landslide, but reduces the risk of debris and rockfall impacting adit door #2 and the powerhouse.
