SCOPE
The City of Surprise, is proposing a street improvement project. The project is located at the intersection of 163rd Avenue & Jomax Road, extending approximately ¼ mile along each leg of the intersection. The project is located in the Special Planning Area 2 region of the City. The City of Surprise intends to procure a Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R ) to deliver the interim design and construction at the intersection of 163rd Ave and Jomax Road. Jomax road is classified as a minor arterial and 163rd Avenue is a major arterial. The intersection is a 4-way stop condition. Traffic counts have been increasing as development and new home construction has regained momentum in the area. Recent traffic study indicated 20,000 (Jomax Road) and 36,000 (163rd Avenue) vehicles per day respectively by 2030. Given the uncertain nature of development of the properties at the intersection and the imminent need to signalize this intersection, it is the direct benefit of the traveling public to complete this project ahead of development. Further delays in completion of the intersection will result in safety concerns. Eric Boyles, CPPO, CPPB Procurement Manager, City of Surprise purchasing@surpriseaz.gov
