SCOPE
First part of the project is located on Haekel Road and San Simon Wash. The project work consists of the removal of existing concrete crossing and roadway surfacing, construction of a triple-cell pre-cast reinforced concrete box culvert, wing walls, guardrail, embankment, asphalt road surfacing, and appurtenances to span the San Simon Wash in order to reduce road closures during flash flood events, as reduce annual maintenance costs resulting from flood events. Second part of the project is Haekel Road Repaving. The work consists of the following: This proposed project includes road and pavement rehabilitation of 2.0 miles, approx. 20,000 sy of Haekel Road, Safford Arizona. The repaving starts on the North end of the San Simon culverts and continues for 2 miles north. The road construction includes but is not limited to 6 –inch pulverizing of existing pavement in place, finish grading and compaction. Asphalt paving is the application of a Type 2B double chip seal (1st layer penetrating asphalt chip, 2nd layer nominal asphalt chip) with uncoated chips, a final fog seal and roadway markings.
