SCOPE
The Sperber is located west of Holtville on Meloland Road. Water from the Rositas Canal is held and released when needed into the Rose and Rubber canals. The reservoir was named after Herman "Red" Sperber, a local farmer and long-time member of the Imperial County Board of Supervisors The purpose of this project is to remove the unwanted sediment. The reservoir will be put out of operation for a period of 3 months (June 5 – August 31). Water delivery to the reservoir will be stopped and the outlet gate will be opened, and for the most part the reservoir will be ‘dried’ out, but will be the responsibility of the Contractor to do any dewatering needed in order to remove sediment. Any dewatering cost shall be part of the mobilization. • Clear and prepare property where sediment will be disposed (includes building ramps and prep-haul roads). • Dewater and air-out material to be removed inside the reservoir • Remove approx. 40,000 cyd of sediment out of the reservoir to the designated placement area, and protect the clay liner in • Cleanup and repair any fence removed at the reservoir • Repair any County and/or haul roads damaged by the work (before retention is released) • Provide survey of material removed to be compared with IID’s survey for pay quantities Carla De Anda - Email: Purchasing@iid.com Tel 760-339-9706 Fax 760-339-9470 cjdeanda@iid.com
